Surprising as it is, all of the hard work I’ve been putting in has finally paid off. For months, I told myself that it would be that way; that working hard and spending hours upon hours in pursuit of one goal was worth it. And… and despite months of relative failure, I finally have some grip of what I’m going to do with the next couple of years. Just yesterday it seems I got back to my favourite city and now: I get to stay here for my MBA. I’m going to be studying International Business Administration with a focus in Cultural Diplomacy at Touro College for the next 18 months of my life. Yay! Cue cheering now.
What does that mean?
That means I get a visa to stay in Germany during my studies, and for the time after my graduation (another 18 months). Studying in this program means that I can work part-time and (legally) make money. It means I don’t have to leave the country that I love calling my home, and I’m beyond happy about that. Especially given certain political developments, I don’t exactly want to be in my home country right now.
So I start classes in three weeks… drum roll… In the meantime, I still have my web development courses with Career Foundry (which I continue to adore), and my weekly yoga classes that I teach at Kiron, an NGO dedicated to providing higher education for refugees. I’m not even counting the 3-5 interviews per week for student jobs and part-time opportunities that I somehow still make time for.
In the past couple days as well, I’ve been making an concentrated effort at maintaining a steady meditation and yoga practice when I wake up. Without question, it’s been fantastic. I love the Bad Yogi Youtube channel, and 10 minute meditation sessions that Lulu Lemon offers on Soundcloud. I feel so much more prepared to handle anything life throws at me – and there’s a lot…
My long-distance boyfriend and I talk far more than I can count everyday, and nothing brings a smile to my lips quicker than a text from him. I’m in the process of creating an e-commerce website for my friend’s jewellery line. I try to be active, practice German and watch enough Youtube to make my brain rot just that little bit. And beyond that… there’s pleasure to be taken in reading, going out with friends, and my pipe-dream of writing for online blogs and staying in touch for long-distance friends. Whew. Needless to say, the yoga and meditation is much appreciated.
I think that’s all about from my side… but what are you lovely readers up to?
